Angry i got a problem.....

so i went to the drag strip last weekend and raced my buddy, he's got a 2000 powerstroke and he beat me.... granted he was only able to do that because i put the chip in his truck for him... although he has to turn it up to +70 HP he still beats me and that just aint right... so to solve this problem i need some advice on CHEAP power. my 96 is stock except for intake and exhaust. any help would be great but i need to keep it cheap. I'm in the army and i aint got much money and the wife takes whats left thanks!!

The good new is fuel mods are cheap. The parts that are gonna hurt your pocketbook are a clutch and turbo upgrades.

Do some searching for 215 pump. If you just want to beat your buddies truck, it wouldn't cost hardly anything. But to be safe, gauges would help. www.rpmoutlet.com has the cheapest prices around. A pyro and boost would be all you really need. Also search for homemade 3k GSK and plate grinding and plate profiles. You have the mother of fuel pumps. Getting to 500 hp is cake as Don M states.

i forgot to mention that i had a clutch made for my truck.... not sure what it will hold but it is definatley better than stock. has 8 ceramic buttons and havent had any problems with it. it was made by Tennessee Clutch and Supply. the stock clutch went to hell and this guy made it on the spot and i got a good deal on it... can't complain about that.

Grind your stock fuel plate to an #0, #100, or #10 profile. Slide your plate and AFC housing forward, and get the homemade GSK. Also is his truck an auto? If that's the case he can build boost at the line and keeps boosting during shifts whereas a manual that's a little more difficult. Maybe try practicing launches and shifts.

+1 for all those mods. The manual tranny might hurt you a little. So if you tie, consider yourself a winner.
