Must be nice to have $$$.:o [laugh] ;)

Alright now. :)
The HY & HX are borrowed ... so there. :) For sure there are a lot bigger workbenches full of turbos out there. I remember Kendricks picture ... |
That HY35 has been warm more than once :D

Forrest:
Heh buddy, thanks for the photo!;) Have you had a chance to install "J.R.'s" HX-55 yet?? How does it compare to your HX-40/16,.....(EGT's, low end performance, midrange, top end etc.)??? Give us a report when you have time! Thanks Forrest! --------- John_P |
Howdy John.
Not yet installed, but tomorrow it'll be spinnin. Oh yea, will do a report in a most un-scientific way. :) I'm gonna be easy with it for the 300mi or so break in. JR said it'll be tight for awhile. I'm easy on turbos anyway. The stock HX40 has been on there for 5 yrs or so. Next Friday, I'll be in Death Valley. Be driving at about -150' elevation. Nice thick air for the oversize Monica ... it's a wonderful thing. It ought to be broken in by then. Ck out the rest of the pics on the Members Photo Gallery ... got some side views. |
Forrest:
Thanks for the quick reply!! I will be looking forward to your "unscientific" evaluation of the two turbos![laugh] The "break-in" procedure is a good idea! I have done that with all the turbos I have run too! You know Forrest,.....I think you and I have the best luck of all the Dodge Diesel owners who have run the HX-40's!! Like you, I still have my "original" Piers HX-40 and that turbo now has over 75,000 miles on it with no problems at all! Yours is a little older than mine but it goes to show that they can last if taken care of! Thanks again Forrest! Have a good trip through Death Valley buddy! I will looking forward to your report! --------- John_P |
oversized monica = LOL!!![laugh]
Don~ |
Darn Forrest,
Looks like I need to really get on the ball with my 24V.... I can tell you first hand that J.R.'s turbo's come TIGHT. When I first cranked my 12V up with his '55 and 4C on it,, the 4C darn barely moved for the first couple minutes! (it was a blur,, but wasn't kickin' butt) After 1,000 miles or so,, I can hear them spool down for about 4-7 seconds depending on how hot the oil is. Spool-up was GREATLY improved afer break-in. Merrick |
Yea it is Merrick.
Just for grins, I poured some oil thru the orifice & gave her a crank. Tiiiiiiiiiiiiight alright ... & that's just fine alright. :) See how you are ... playing the spooling card on me. ;) :D Can't wait. Ahhhhhh ... the sound of spooling up & down via Scottys cowl hole puncture ... it's what dreams are made of. I think it was that Kendrick guy that kept busting my chops on the sound of the B1  :) :) All in great fun. Comes with years of the bombing bug. |
I think the Holsets sound so much better than a B-1. A B-1 is a bit whiny, and high pitched, but the Holsets growl under ~8PSI, and sound like a 777 under full boost!
I'll give you a report when my 24V gets running (when it does,,, it's taking forever [verymad] ) (It's in the chassis though, not running, just in Chassis) Merrick |
Nice picture.
It does look like that plywood is getting ready to let loose though!:D :D Are the HX55/16's good for an Auto?? --Justin |
