Hurry While Rod is baling!
Hurry While Rod is baling!
Several folks have commented on the Scotty 3...which we actually named the RAM AIR 3. For the Generation 3 trucks.
It is always referred to as a Scotty 3.
So what should it be?
RAM AIR 3
or
SCOTTY AIR 3 ?
;D

Think about it from a marketing standpoint, the "Scotty" system is known by many "old members", and has a name that stands out. If someone called me up saying "tell me about this Ram Air", I am going to talk about Ram air, not the old Scotty system that has a coined term.

Scotty...I believe the others are right. Keep the Scotty name and Scotty III seems appropriate. It's kind of like computer software up-grades, you know version 3.0, 3.2, 3.5 etc. The numbers can signify 2nd. gen trucks, 3rd etc. Makes easy for resellers and users to identify which system to use for their trucks. Now this will probably hurt your feelings, the word "sucks" usually means something is no good. In marketing I would prefer, words like, "The Scotty Air is SO COOL", or "The Scotty Air provides COOL Air", etc. I realize the word "sucks" is humurous , however, can be used in a negative way by competition or customers who are un-happy with the product or service. Since I proclaimed myself your director of Marketing and R & D, I would appreciate you following my sugguestions. We also need to work on the packaging and two tone the raised lettering for better visiability and color cordinate the tubes. My ususal 20% is long over due!!!

Re:Hurry While Rod is baling!
I lean towards the Scotty 3. If you call it the Ram Air 3 it sorta makes one wonder what happened to the Ram Air 1 & 2. Were they failures? Like 7Up. Was 1Up thru 6Up failures? Why have we not heard anything about them? The Scotty 3 follows a progression and rolls easily off the tongue.
As for the slogan. Can take that both ways but in some ways Scotty Sucks being a negative connotation does stick in the mind. If you ever end up with an irate customer (a sad fact of life as some are never pleased) then when they loudly claim that the Scotty sucks in some ways thay could actually be promoting the product when they are trying to slander it. As I can't come up with an alternative for Scotty sucks, guess you should stick with it.

This is as good a place as any to tell a story of GREAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!

My RamAirIII, aka ScottyIII arrived yesterday via an order with Rod. It had been delayed a little with technical difficulties but Rod stayed on top of it and expedited the delivery when he finally had control.

As the installation process began, so did the problems. It seems the unit was faulty or had been damaged in shipment and the mounting block was no longer attached to the sleeve. Being the mechanical type, but with limited resources at home, I spent two hours on the problem and then took it to the workshop to get it fixed and installed.

In the meantime I emailed Rod with the problem and my sad face.

Well, Rod came through, made the situation right, and is sending a new component off his own truck in an expedited delivery.

Needless to say, you rarely get this kind of customer response and attention in any industry or situation. So, Rod and Wildcat Diesel have earned a good customer for all the rest of my upgrades for my toys. The EdgeEZ is on the way and gauges are not far behind.

THANKS ROD!!!!
