HELP!! Oh please LORD say it ain't so!!

Well started the truck up this morning and got down to the barn and noticed a pretty steady drip of antifreeze coming from the passenger side of the truck :o so I crawled underneath and looked up in hopes that I would find a simple loose hose or something........nothing. Then I thought well lets check the weep hole on the water pump, now to the best that I could see there is no antifreeze leaking there either so from what I can tell it almost looks like it's coming from the upper right front corner below the alternator, Oh I hope it's not the block [verymad]. I know there has been threads on this but I'm wondering if someone can help here on where the crack usually is and what it might look like. Also what are the ways to fix it, if memory serves me correctly the block is under warranty until 150,000 miles right? Any info on this would sure help cause I'm kinda in a bind here!!:(

Aha!! Thats part of the problem I can't seem to find where the stamp is on the block [duhhh] it would clear up a lot of things for me pretty fast. Where do I look?

Sounds like a thermostat housing leak to me. I would pull it off throw a new thermostat in and seal it up good and see if the leak comes back.

Take a look on the driver side of the engine just above the oil pan towards the front of the block. The 2 numbers are about 1 inch tall. Good luck!

53 blocks usually crack on the drivers side just below where the block makes a inward curve. I believe it is below the freeze holes and cracks horizontally. You should be able to see it if you look below the head on the passenger side... behind the alternater and oil filter assembly. If you don't see a leak in that area, you probably have a much easier (cheaper) problem.

Let us know what you find out.

Ok looked at the block to find the number and what I found was l s o o L l
2 C B 1 2
could not find the 53 stamp anywhere? Have not checked for a crack on the block because it's getting to dark and I can't see ( and also I'm scared of the dark ) [laugh]

Well, the 53 is at least an inch high so if you didn't see it, but instead saw those #'s, you probably have a "Mexican" block which is suppose to be a good one.

I'd start looking elsewhere for a cause.

Sounds like a Mexican block....which is a good thing.
