Help with gauge install

Hey guys, I am looking for some help on how to install my gauges. I have the AutoMeter Pro Comp Ultra Lite gauges: Pyrometer (with thermocouple and wiring), Boost, Fuel Pressure (electric).

The boost gauge is the simplest, however, where do i go on the engine (preferably not requiring drill/tap) to put the boost bolt in and have it function properly.

With the Pyro., i obviously have to drill/tap the ex. manifold to install the thermocouple and the wiring from that goes to where.

Finally, with the Fuel pressure gauge, all i get was an 1/8" fitting, a wire harness that goes from the fitting to the gauge and the light. Where can i go on the fuel system again preferably without having to drill and tap to put that pressure sending unit in to read the fuel pressure.



Lastly, where do i wire the light source in the fuse box so itll dim with the dash lights if i need/want it to.

Boost gauge - Get a "boost bolt". You have to replace one of the bolts on the air intake pleneam (sp). That way there is not drilling or tapping.
Pyro gauge - After drilling and tapping the exhaust manifold, run the leads through the firewall along with the tube for the boost gauge and the wires for the fuel pressure gauge. If you look behide the brake boost you'lls see a rubber plug, kinda looks like rounded diamond. push that out and cut a hole into it.
As for the fuel pressure gauge - you might need to get a fitting that will screw onto the shrader valve on the fuelfilter canister.

I got a hose from Genos garage that fit on the shrader valve of the VP for my FP gauge. Boost bolt is the easiest way for boost pressure. Drilling and tapping the exhaust manifold is easy, just intimidating the first time. Power source wires. I tapped into my cup holder light for dim able power. Keyed 12v power I just found under the dash somewhere.

JPR, he has a 6spd, that rounded diamond isnt there because thats where the clutch master cylinder is.

for the boost, if you dont have the "boost bolt" from genos, you can do what i did and pull the 3/4" NPT plug out of the side of the intake plenum, just in front of the map sensor, maybe 3/4 of way back on the drivers side of the head. it will take the square 1/2" drive rachet head to get it out. go to home depot/lowes.hardware store and get a 3/4"npt to 1/2" npt adapter, then a 1/2" to 1/8" npt adapter. then you can put your 1/8" boost tube crush fitting on that. mine has worked great for over 2 years.

on the fuel pressure, they make these banjo bolt fittings, it replace the banjo bolt at the vp-44, instead of a bolt head it has the 1/8" NPT plug on it that your sender can screw right into. not sure it thats a special order thing or something you can find at a parts store that would sell banjo bolts.

if you cant get certain parts today, just install everything you can, wire up what you can and when you get the parts it can be a 5-10 minute swap to hook up a fitting or line!
