Head Bolt Re-torque???

I am going to install my Super-B this weekend and have a few questions...
1. I have heard of people re-torquing the factory head bolts I am thinking of doing this. What is the proper torque and sequence?

2. I am also going to adjust the valves while the cover is off (I have about 96K) is there anything big that I need to watch out for? I have printed the instructions off of the Tech Facts.

3. When I am swaping turbos I am going to check the exhaust manifold bolts,(I hear that they can come loose) what are the torques for them? And the turbo bolts while I am at it?

4. Last, I bought the truck with gauges in it and the pyro is post turbo. I am moving it to pre when the turbo is off. Is there anything that I will need or can I just drill and tap the manifold and take it out and move it?

I know that this was a bunch of questions, but this is my daily driver and I cannot have it down for some little hassle. Thanks in advance, I know that someone will have the answers!

Don't worry about retorquing your head bolts. There's really no need for the boost levels that your going to be seeing. I've got 94k on my stock headgasket and it sees 40-45psi every day and it's holding great. My old roommate has the super b with a drag comp and mach 1.5's and he's got 94k on his truck and his headgasket is holding fine.

You can adjust the valves if you want to but it's probably not needed. The scheduled valve adjustment on these engines is at 150k miles.

The proper torque is good and tight. Actually, the manifold bolts are 32ftlb and the turbo is 24ftlb.

Just drill and tap the manifold and move the probe. That's it.

Thanks Blue, I was just a little worried about the HG because the last thing that I want to do is replace that! What kind of boost numbers does your roomate see with his set up? I really have no idea what I am going to see with my mods all I know is that if I didn't have and adjustable elbow the hx 35 would be blown out the hood! Thanks

We used the boost elbow that came with the comp in the super b and he sees right at 42psi. Just be sure that you let the engine get up to operating temperature before you romp on it and you should be fine.

Yup! Basically start in the middle and work outward, in a circle. SOP!
And I agree with Big Blue. Don't bother. I know of no stock Head Bolts that have had problems. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!
