Goerend Trans

How hot does your Goerend Trans get? If im sitting at a light for a little bit the trans temp gauge will start to climb and get to 200 at that point ill shift to N and let it sit ive never had it go past 200 degrees. any one else have this happening?

What are you using for cooling?

xzaq103 05-13-2008 12:52 PM

The stock cooler

200 is about normal temp for sitting still. When you take off i bet it jumps right back down since the torque converter is circulating the fluid again.

Where is your sender for your gauge at?

the hot line at the front of the truck befor it goes into the cooler.

Thats normal if you have a tight converter. Do you know what model converter you got? 900/400+-, 800/300+- or a 15 blade left cut.

I just got off the phone with Dave @ Goerend and asked him about gauge placement. Your seeing the hottest point in the transmission. I wouldn't worry about it unless it got over 230-240 degrees. If you get to 250 is when you will start hurting your transmission.

Thanks guys

As for the converter i have no idea. Its just the triple disk dave offers.

Sense you seem to be in the know I have a 15 blade left cut I believe. He recommended this as it's used to tow in the Rockies, same torque multiplier 15 blade but cut at the ends vs his sled puller, 1/4 strip that is not cut. Does this run hotter or cooler?

My temps have been very low since the new trans but I will finally tow something this weekend, my temps have been no more than 185* vs 210* with my old trans. Temps taken hot line.

Just curious.

The 15 blade left cut is a lil looser than his 15 blade left cut back cut. so yours should run cooler that the back cut in traffic conditions.

I didn't catch a thing with all the cut back cut and cooler so I hope mine is cooler in traffic??? He showed me a stock 17 blade and then 17 blade his way and then only 2 15 blade torque multipliers (as he calls them) So a left cut and a no cut as your calling them. What the heck is a left cut back vs a left cut. If I were to have a rectangle as a blade for my converter he cut out a triangle on the bottom side or rear of the blade, says is makes more pressure with the longer blade but quicker spool (pressure?) from the cut?
