Glacier Diesel fuel boss install question.
 

I have had my fuel boss for a while now and am ready to install. Do I need to run the electric fuel pump too, or can I just run the fuel boss? If just running the fuel boss do I still need the return line with it, or will the return line from the VP be enough. I can't seem to find any info anywhere else, so I am returning to the experts once again. I would like to get rid of the electric crap all together. If anyone has any pics or tips I would very much appreciate it.

I put the fuel boss on my truck awhile ago but they have all the information on the website that you can download and print for the install. I kept my electric fuel pump just so I can prime it after doing work or if my belt should break on the fuel boss I'll still have fuel pressure. With them both hooked up since I put the boss in my electric pump has not come on at all.

Do you have the stock lift pump on the side of the block? My had been converted to the intank so I had to buy a draw straw in order to make the fuel boss work. Your gonna need the return line for sure, mine will put out 17psi running down the highway and about 5psi in the driveway idling.

I suggest reading them because you have a relief valve and a check valve and they need to go in the right position pointed the right way. Also you'll need an inline strainer to put inline between your pump suction side and tank pickup tube. The install was pretty easy, couple 3-4 hours maybe.

I have the entire kit with instructions. I just needed to know if it could be installed as stand alone unit. I got a reply from GD and they said it would work as a stand a lone, but still need the return line. I currently have a Holley blue mounted on the frame rail and want to rid myself of any electrical complications.

I thought about bypassing my elec. LP as well, but like dodgeguy said, its nice to have that added insurance incase of a belt goin. That and its nice to be able to prime

i run a MITUSA pump with nothing else. purely mechanical setup, all electrics are gone. the only drawback so far is the fact i can't prime the system with a key turn when doinf injectors or fuel filter replacements. still pretty easy to prime with a drill though. i have no regrets as of yet running without any electric pump . . .

Good to hear. Does the MITUSA pump also have the return line?

yes and no. it retains the factory return from the VP, BUT it also has a return system in itself for the unused fuel being circulated. it does not dump into the tank though - it just stays in circulation via a valve. it's difficult to explain without a pic. if you want, i'm sure a decent search would yield you a pic or two . . .
