Fuel Plate Grinding?

Does anyone know where i can find smome instructions on grinding and polishing a stock fuel plate. I want to learn how to make a home ground plate i have a few stock ones in hand to practice on. Thanks

It's a simple job, not rocket science. I use a 4" angle grinder with a 80 grit flapper disc, takes about one minute to make a #100 out of a stock plate. If you can run your fingernail along the front of the plate without it catching it's plenty smooth.

yes, don't grind it where it gets so hot. i use a regular bench grinder and i keep a glass of water near by. i grind it till it gets to hot to hold then cool it off. i don't use gloves wheni grind them.

I used a die grinder and a rotary file for mine , never got warm enough that i couldn't touch it , put a rotary sanding disk on the die grinder and gave it a quick polish , took less than 5 mins.

I used a bench grinder to make a 0 plate. Make sure you don't get it too hot. To smooth it out, I used a diamond stone, like the ones you sharpen your knives with. It got it as smooth as it can be.
