Fuel leak at pressure sender

I just installed a Westach fuel pressure gauge kit from Geno's and it went together well. I am also happy to report that my LP does work as exepcted. But, I have a small amount of fuel leaking from the fittings that connect the hose to the sending unit. How tight should I make these fittings? May I use some sort of thread tape? Should some amount of fuel seep be acceptable?

Thanks!

I'd think that no seepage is acceptable. Use some thread sealant on it (leave first two threads clean). Tape can shread and get into the fuel system. What kind of fittings are you using? NPT fittings, you should be able to tighten up to stop the leakage (get some sealant on them). If they are compression or JIC type fittings, make sure the sealing faces are good and clean. A little bit of debris will keep it from sealing and cause a leak.

I am not sure what kind of fittings i used as they were several different choices shipped with Geno's kit. The hose fitting that mated to the VP44 test port was straight, the fitting that attached to the sending unit required the use of the adapter brass fitting that had course threads with straight sides (Hose end) and fine threads with tapered sides (Sender end). I am not sure if the leak is occuring from one of the fittings on the sender end of the hose or from the hose itself where the rubber is attached to the brass.

After sitting overnight, the truck started with a very rough idle and nearly died. It is running now but I am convinced that I have a leak somewhere as I am getting air in the line. I have the sending unit mounted high on the fire wall with the wire terminals on top. Is this OK? Should the sending unit be mounted lower on the fire wall so that the fuel does not drain down so far into the hose following shut down?
