Fuel Gauge "Your preference?"

Hello all I know this has been talked about a million times but what is the overall preference on a fuel guage and the best or most accurate way to install?? I am getting the three pod pillar(which I haven't picked yet) but fuel gauge will be a single mounted somewhere else. Thanks!!

Run a line straight from the engine to the gauge with a needle valve in between. I'm running a set of ISSPRO EV's and they are great. This is my third set of gauges and I finally found a set I like and that has worked for longer than 6-8 months.

Thumbs up fuel gauge

i just installed a fuel pressure gauge on my 2001 saturday. i purchased the single gauge steering colume mount, diprocal mechanical gauge and banjo bolt from diesel manor about $70 and the rest of the hardware from my local hardware store about $20. gauge was on sale $17 and was a good match for the gauges in the truck. looks real good, was very easy install. tapped fuel on bottom of filter and power from ashtray light. taking off the driver side tire gives better access to the bottom of the filter.

Another honorable mention for the ISSPRO EV's. Stick a green bulb in them and they look very similar to the guages on the dash.

My Autometers are still going strong after almost 4 years. In fact, only the Pyro ever crapped out (last fall), and I suspect perhaps it was from getting pegged and cycled hard with a bad ground.

I REALLY like the NV series that Autometer has out now.

VDO Vision guages can look almost identical to factory. With a green backlight bulb, the letters and the needle light up virtually the same as the factory gauges. I didn't want to spend the $$ on a pressure isolator so I put in an electronic pressure gauge, spun the sender right into the fuel filter bleed hole. My FP gauge and trans temp is a Nordskog green digital electronic gauge. It looks OK, i would prefer an analog gauge. My VDO visions (pyro and boost) have been running for 3 years.

I still think the DiPricols look good at night against a stock guage cluster... For the price I paid for the DiPricol's it a whole lot cheaper that the Autometers. I paided $306.00 for the setup in the picture for everything! For just the Autometer guages I was quoted as high as $640.00 for just the guages! Ouch! Thats not including plumbing, pod, wiring, needle valve, etc...

The fuel pressure guage is plumbed straight in with a needle valve isolator. No failures yet. Still going strong. 25K on the clock and a year later.

Check my gallery for the rest of the pictures...

We just got in the DiPricol Optix as well and they do look nice.

Please keep in mind that sometimes price comparing is not always the same. Autometer does have some stepper motor action and they are much more. They are built to be super precise and are really awesome gauges. The stepper motor gauges were mostly the Pyro/EGT gauge, but other types are being manufactured now.

Just a thought before you look another way just because of a higher price.

I really hope your truck was turned off when you took that pic.
