Draw straw mod question
I know this topic has been beat to death.
I'm in the middle of installing the airdog 150 in my 99 24v. My truck does not have the in tank lift pump. In wondering if anybody has modified the stock pickup basket to fit the airdog draw straw? Haven't found a lot of information on that. I was thinking about removing the rollover valve and put the drawstraw there. Then ill relocate the rollover valve to the highest point on the tank since it still acts like a vent.

If Airdog offers a sump pickup for the bottom of the tank, you might consider that option instead. The straw often creates the 1/4 tank remaining, running out of fuel scenario when the bottom of the tank flexes a little lower. Getting the straw close to the bottom is no guarantee it will stay there with different fuel levels and temperatures. You also don’t have to drop the tank to install the sump pickup.
I have the FASS Titanium with sump pickup and it works well.

If you don't have to many fuel thirsty mods you can just use the factory pick up. I have the Vulcan draw straw and I have the 1/4 tank issue. I did see some instructions where you drill a hole in the top of the sending unit and install the straw there. If I where to get around to changing mine, I would remove the old in tank pump and run a flexible line into the bottom of the basket instead of the hard tube in the middle of the tank. The sump is the best solution except in a high fuel theft area.
