FASS question

Okay, I did it. Ordered my new FASS today so I can join the club. Did FASS upgrade the fuel line connections that everybody on this site hates? Also are the instructions for mounting very good that come with unit? Thanks all for good advice and steering people like me in the right direction.

I think the problem was more with getting to the top of the tank than the fitting. It's pretty tight up there and you have to squeeze/push/pull on the connector to get it off. I've had mine both ways and neither leaked.

The instruction I had nearly two years ago were sufficient, and I understand that they have been revised to be even better.

Enjoy the FASS, I wouldn't trade mine.

Crobtex, thanks for the reply. Can't wait to get it and the new Danin fuel pressure guage in. Maybe I will stop sweating rubber bullets over the IP.

The FASS is no guarantee the IP won't fail, but it sure won't fail due to lack of fuel.

I personally have no problems with the FASS fuel line conections. Been over two yrs and 80,000 miles and holding well!
Heating the lines a bit before install seems to help get a good fit.

I put a FASS on my truck a few weeks ago. I was worried about the doorman connector on fuel tank, but it took me about 5 minutes to remove it. Just use a #1 common screwdriver with you right hand to press up the bottom clip and with your left hand, press the top clip and pull off the connector at the same time. I think the hardest part is installing the push lock fuel line. I hear using a heat gun does the trick. I used a hair dryer and lots of wd-40. I also used hose clamps to ensure they don't leak.

What model are you getting? I have the 95 system and I see 13 PSI at idle using a mechanical fuel pressure gauge without an isolator.

HTHs,

Joe

Fass question

Diesel-Dan thanks for the reply. I got my FASS the other day and am going to put it on Monday. I got the HPFP 95-1003. Right now am getting 12psi on the fuel pressure guage. I hope this will greatly improve on that number.

Where exactly do you install this unit? Behind the cab on frame? or on the cross rail of the truck bed?

I appreciate the info on installing the unit, but I will be going directly to the existing fuel filter correct?

I wish that the pictures were a little bigger on the instructions, oh well.

Any help is appreciated before the work begins...........

HPFP mounts to the Bed Support (Cross) Rail and the FASS mounts off a bracket that is bolted to the frame.

Yes. With the HPFP you need to use the stock filter.

Also....do you have a fuel pressure isolator for your gauge?

Respond to Diesel-Dan

Yes I do have an insolater on the fuel pressure guage. Right now I'm getting 9.5 to 10psi running down the freeway at 60mph. I sure am looking forward to improving those numbers.

I bet you need to bleed the isolator.....i bet when you installed the HPFP you introduced air into it. The HPFP should be about 16-18 PSI at idle.....I personaly just run fuel into the cab to my gauge because of all the issues i see with isolators.
