Exhaust Suggestions for 96 3/4 ton
 

Looking to replace the stock exhaust and looking for any suggestions. I like the "big" truck sound but am not interested in stacks. Any and all suggestions much appreciated as this is now my backup truck and I would really like to start modifying it for better performance and towing. The only mod so far is a a K&N air intake setup. Thanks

I'd run a 4" turbo back straight exhaust with a 6" or 7" tip. That will give you the big truck sound without the stacks and is quite affordable. just my .02

jus a 4 inch straight would give you a nice tone and small chip would work good for towing and a little bit better performance. dunno what yer plans are for your tranny but if its an auto you better be weary of it goin out sometime.

Thanks for the thoughts. Is it best to go to a shop and have them do it or is there a manufacturer you recommend for a do it yourself job? Is the downpipe 4" from the factory or does that need replacing too?

I used 4" from RPM outlet. Had it for 2 years. Holding up very well. Easy to install and the best price i could find.

I have an MBRP stainless ehaust on my dually. Fit was great, the stainless has left something to be desired though. I'd go to an aluminized steel exhaust if I were to purchase another one, since even if it rusts like the stainless did, atleast it was cheaper. That one (and I'm pretty sure most do ) come with a 4" downpipe. May as well order the muffler delete pipe now so you have it when you are ready to get rid of the muffler. Hang on to the muffler though, you never know when you may want to put it back on.

i say get a pdr hx-40 adapter then match that up with a hx-40 style down pipe. By doing so your getting rid of the restrictive stock exhaust elbow which will bring your egts down even farther. Then match the downpipe with a 4 or 5inch exhaust all the way back.

4" exhaust will be raspier in tone than a 5". However, many 5" systems can drone something horrible. Not usually a big deal if you have the ability to move the muffler around a bit.

j-fox, I am really new at all the products available out there. What is a 3000 rpm GSK zero or 100 plate?

Silverline 4" 304 Stainless Steel here. Its on its 4th Chicago salty winter and still looks brand new. If you are in the snowy/salty belt, spend the extra coin for a 304 SS exhaust. The 409SS is about as good as aluminized steel, meaning it still rusts.

the 3000 gsk is a set of govenor springs and the zero plate or 100 plate are types of fuel plates search um up in the forums tons of pages on both

I love my ebay 5" exhaust. It's quieter than my old 4" system was and fits very well. The sellers name is markoidaho.

A 4" or 5" exhaust with a TST # 10 plate and a better air intake than K&N you will be more than happy with the truck. You will need to put a little money in your transmission to handle the fuel plate all the way forward. Also get all the gauges as well, boost, pyro, and tranny temp if you have an auto
