Alright, so my dad has a 99' with the BD Power/Edge Chip and he's had it on their around 3-4 years now, worked great at first. Has a miss when towing, but when you cut the chip off or even down it won't miss. Checked the pressure on the stock lift pump and it's got about 12lbs. at wide open throttle.

Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Is the EDGE chip not so great? This thing feels sick compared to how it used to be.

Help is appreciated.

 

I'd check for codes, sounds like the first signd of an IP failure.

Did you check the FP under load (driving)?

 

Id say he's doing good to have a comp work good for 4 years, they say most dont. I had mine about a year and a half and it worked great till I took it off though....so who knows?

 

As soon as I posted I remembered Edge's less than stellar reliability. But aren't the older boxes more reliable?

 

I'm going on six years now with my Edge EZ,zero problems. I wish the Dodge-Cummins part of the equation was as trouble free.

 

2 1/2 years running my Comp. I've got an early Drag version so that may have something to do with it but I've never had the first problem.

 

So I'l take a yes on my question...

Didn't they move their manufacturing? (causing the change in reliability)
