I'm looking at my next mod (probably with the tax refund)...

So which direction would you steer me?

I'm leaning toward injectors or turbo upgrade. I was thinking twins, but that might be a little much for the budget. I just saw a post about upgrading my hx35 to a hx40hybird (through HTT). The kit is $300 and seems like it might be a good idea. I need it to be bolt on as I don't have a shop/tools available for much else. I'm thinking I could just take the turbo off and send it to HTT and have them do the upgrade.

THoughts?

Or would you say injectors next? Or something else....?

With what you have already done to your ride, I'd go with injectors, then turbo.

both are so dependant on each other. Also have to consider the trucks usage. If towing alot 50-100 hp injectors with an entry level turbo.

I really only tow 1 jeep about 5 times a year (sometimes tow 2, but rarely). I haul my polaris 500 and hunting things about 5 times a year (in the bed, no trailer) and the rest of the time I am using the truck for a daily driver.

Right now egt's wont go too high, but the comp isn't tapped right now. (waiting till I get back to CO for that).

I think a turbo would be first because I don't want to get too hot and then hurt the truck. Wouldn't it be better to be cold (turbo, then fuel)? Sorry, I am new to this.

For the 300, is this a good deal or should I save a bit more and get compounds? I do know eventually I'll be upgrading both, probably multiple times. I just think it might be worth the 300. Thought I'd ask the experts here!

I think if you send your turbo to HTT for the hybrid upgrade you are going to end up spending around the same amount of money as if you were to just buy the hybrid new. Going to a twin setup would be nice but I don't think that can be done for under a few thousand if you are buying the parts verse making them yourself. At this point I think injectors would be you least expensive route. The bigger you go the warmer you will get but that is easily managed with the skinny pedal for how you use your truck. Eric

What are your goals for the truck?

I will say this being in Colorado you cannot go by what internet boards say as most people have more air than us in Colorado. I put a s300 62/65/12 on my truck and my mileage went way south, I couldn’t tow at the same rate as my hx35/40 hybrid, and my egts were way high.

I believe my problems were form having a turbo too big for my fueling. I was very tempted to throw bigger injectors at it. When you are looking at already high egts, already poor mileage the thought of putting more fuel in the fire wasn’t appealing. I decided to step down to an S300G which, from only one test drive, is much better. I think I didnt have enough fuel for the 62/12.

I had the htt upgrade but mine was a 58mm wheel where now there using a 60mm wheel. I sold the hx to a friend who is using it on a 12V and for him it works well. It will surge, but I believe it is the 12V head not flowing as well as the 24V head.

my truck is an 02 6spd truck with 315Bfg's and 3.54 gears, that being said we pulled 19,200 gross to California last Feb., and most of the trip we were in 6th or 5th on steep hills and one time 4th after being cut off on a hill.

It has a madd ecm 65 horse Don M's and the hybrid worked great!

Hybrid turbo and rv275 injectors is what I would do. I would send them your turbo, it will come back brand new. EGT's are consistantly between
900-1200 deg+ pulling my horse trailer and no trailer its 700-1100 deg with the mods I have. It all depends on the wind, grade of the hill and how fast I want to go. There have been times the wind is so strong that I couldnt go over 60mph because egts would exceed 1200 deg's, and that was on flat land.

The Hybrid is a good choice for more air for sure. I really liked mine but swapped it out for a s300 for the 14cm housing and so far have seen a 150* drop at WOT from the s300.

Also if you did injectors and didnt like the EGT's you were seeing, you could always turn your box down a bit till turbo time comes.

I have 80hp inj and J/A on a HX and its easily driveable/ towable do injectors first then decide on a turbo upgrade. I can only hit high egts on a WOT run on level 5 or 6, and it usually triggers at the top of the run...now when I had an hy it was a totally different story!

Or you can save the $$$$ to pay for the increasing price of diesel fuel.....

The price at the pump here has jumped more than 27 cents a gallon in the past two weeks.

Like stated earlier, just depends where you want to go with the truck. Personally, I'd go with the injectors first and then turbo if you have to. My stock turbo handles my stage 3 nozzles beautifully and will only get hot if I want it to.
