Are there any wear components in a Detroit? I know that they add a fair amount of lash to the diff, but I have quite a bit. Is it just wore out? I know it's playing havoc with my syncros...I can 'feel' the driveshaft bounce between coast and accel when I'm shifting. Thoughts?

 

Im not sure about wear items in the locker but they do have a ton of "lash" as you call it. Its the way the locking mechanism works as in it unlocks when power is takin away, this may be why you notice all of the driveshaft bounce between gears, when there is not a load on it and it is unlocked.

 

I got the same slop, you just got to be easy on the go pedal

 

Just a thought, I found some extra 'lash' I thought was a worn out locker from the axle u-bolts loosening up over time.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. The slip yolk in my driveshaft is pretty shot as well, so I'm having an entire new driveshaft made later this week. I tweekd the tube putting the last u-joint in, so this will definitely be money well spent.
