Is this crazy?

I know banks engineering built a sick dakota with a 5.9 cummins

But what about a street legal, daily driver. Something geared to be quick off the line, 1/4 etc, not top end.

What would it take, cost etc
Im not thinkin about doing it, just wondering what it would entail. what kind of tranny, and drivetrain to run etc.

Re:Is this crazy?

btw, i saw the banks truck with an auto and detuned 100hp. wow, did that thing not perform well. actually, for a light, lowered truck, i was very unimpressed. MADDOG had quicker times in a lifter crew cab 4x4 ford with a 12v cummins in it.

the power depends on what truck you want....?? and your wallet.

GasGas,
What size truck are you talking Dakota or full size Ram 2500/3500?
If your talking full size street legal truck that can race, I think about half the membership here qualify for that.

A modified tranny will run about 4k, Fuel mods 2k, Air mods 2k-5k, Misc 1-2k.

I realized these trucks were fast when I smoked my first Mustang GT.

Re:Is this crazy?

well i know about the full size. Im thinking about a 2500 4x4 with a decent setup right now.

I was just wondering what it would take to throw a 5.9 cummins in a dakota. I know it would take a lot of work and money, but i was wondering if anyone had a good idea on just how much it would take.

Call Jeff Garmon @ Garmons diesel performance.
He built and raced a Blue regular cab Dakota with a Cummins 12 valve@450hp.
Running high 11's and low 12's with this truck, the truck suffered an accident while testing.
But it was a rocket.
