Cracked Dashes
Cracked Dashes
Several weeks ago I read and responded to a thread concerning the ever so common cracked dash. The thread turned into a debate on whether to go to dodge for a replacement or buy a plactic dash cover. I the nearest dealership from where Im at is well.... along way! So I went ahead and ordered a dash cap from Coverlay out of San Angelo.
Coverlay Review: 1999 Dodge
The product is well made and fits better than I expected an after market product to fit. Installed correctly (only one way it will fit) the product covers the complete top portion of the dash. I was worried about the sides, right above the fuse panel. However, when centered, it fits perfectly. The cut out area around the air bag also looks great. The dash cap has beveled edges to help it slide closer to airbag cover.
The color is gray but does not match. I will have to go to Dodge to pick up some matching interior paint! Coverlay did put a slip of paper that said that they did not guarantee the color to match. How convenient is that! But not a real problem.
Anyway I will post pictures once I get it painted. I figured that this might help ease the confusion of what to do with a cracked dash.
