cheap HT3B

is 385.00 a good price for a brand new HT3B turbo? can this be used in a twin setup with the stock HX35 in a 95 12V?

thanks!

$385 isn't bad for a new stock HT3B/?? but do you know which model and which housing you would be getting for that money?

Keep in mind a stock HT3B/?? and stock HX35 will be slow to spool for twins.

I believe that is htt turbos add. You can call them and buy a ht3b/26 or 23 for that price. They can also balance the pinwheels and do other mods for spooling. Good guys to deal with. Tim

why is that thing so cheap as compared to a B1 or something? I figured the bigger the turbo, the more it would cost?

B1's have a ton of rework done to them. The turbo the B-1 starts out as can be bought for under $600.

This is a big engine turbo, and because they are so much more common, they can be had for less $$$.
As far as the mods go, it depends on what you want to do. For a single turbo, this would not be a good choice. You see lots of modded turbos that are big, but have been modified to give better response on the spool-up. This is necessary for driveability.

Tim, who responded earlier in this thread, has a nice setup using and HT3B, with a 26 cm exhaust housing. I have already bought my HT3B and am gathering the other pieces, biding my time as I break in my new block.

It would be a lag pig as compared to a modified one. I'm sure there are other issues that the reworks solves but I am not certain what they are.

To those of you that are looking at buying non modified turbo's it is true you will save money and no one can argue that one, but you need to look at the big picture, if your building a set of Twins and are trying to save a few hundred dollars then you need to stay with your single, stock turbo's built as Twins just don't work well and the top turbo's lag is amplified.

Example: Had a guy talk to me last year about this very subject an he built his setup with a stock 35 and stock HT3B, the last time I heard from him he was having to use nitrous to spool the turbo's at the track. I can easily build boost till something breaks.....at will, I could careless what you do but thought I should pass that opinion on to you to think about.
