Budget build truck

I'm in the process of building my 96 into a pull truck not full blown but to where I can pull and still drive on the street to. I trying to find out if I'm gonna need a flex plate? Would my factory be ok? I know I'm gonna need a billet input and tc. I found a billet input shaft on here that I think would work that only has around 500 miles on it. I had heard about a guy that builds tc in Ohio triple disk for $600 but I don't have any contact info for him. As the title states this is as much of a budget build as possible but im also not cutting conners for poor quality. Any feed back will help. Thanks

I'd definitely do the flexplate and input. Personally, I'd consider the intermediate, too, if you're already gonna have it apart for a rebuild...

If I were building a serious budget pull truck, i would get one with a manual tranny. An auto will be more fun on the street, but all real pull trucks have manual trannys.

Theres a few guys on here pullin with autos now. They do just as good as the manuals. As long as you build it right its gonna be strong enough for the 500hp. Your dana 70 pinion will be the week spot if you beef up the trans.

If you are building a budget truck, then I would skip the 500 or so for the flexplate, and put that on more fuel or air. With a 500 hp or so truck you can run a long time with a stock plate if you pull smart. If the truck is setup right too you can get by with a 70 for a while to, though you may loose a axle now and then. Depends on your budget and what you want to do.

I'm lookin at inputs an converters now. I have considered the intermediate but for lack of funding i'm probly skippin it for now. I won't have all this by the time the date of the first pull gets here but I plan to try to at least get the input and converter sometime in the near future. If I do deside to get a flex plate later on then who is a good company to go with?

Does anyone know who might have the best price on an billet input? Also I have heard a few people talkin about a man who builds tc in Ohio. A triple disk billet converter for $600. Does anyone know who this man is or how to get a hold of him?

Ok dlange, I talked to goerend today. I'll probly end up with an input shaft from them. Haven't seen any new ones as cheap as they are.

troutstrannysvc, Do you know anybody that has run a converter from him? What very little I have heard he does good work.
