Boost Leaks (kinda long)
Boost Leaks (kinda long)
First off Tuck is in my sig but incase i dont have everything up to date its a 94 5spd 4x4.
Awhile ago I built my own twin setup useing my stock turbo and a ht3b as the bottom turbo. Now i've chased my fair share of boost leaks building this setup so let me explain how I am checking things.
I built an adapter to go in the inlet of the big turbo where the air filter would go and so I can simply put this adapter where the filter would go and hook an air hose up to (compressor is regulated down to 10psi or alittle lower).
This boost leak I have now is stumping me. It sounds (yes I can hear it its so loud) like its comeing right through the very right A/C duct. Now when i hook up my little system to put air to it the only place i can feel/see (with soap and water) any air escaping is through the little hole on the side of adjustable elbow for the wastegate. Is this normal? Am I missing something obvious? Anyone been stumped with a boost leak like mine and found out where it was to save me some time trouble shooting it?
Any and all advise is welcome.

I am chasing one too at the moment. Why have the compressor regulated down to 10psi? Your truck runs much more than that. I have started checking for leaks in sections. I found I had 2 but not very big ones and I doubt that the boost elbow leaks much. How bad is your leak? I am down about 30psi
I am honestly too scared to push it too far from the way it sounds.
Peak use to be 52psi highest i've seen so far is about 20psi. Use to have about 7 cruise psi at 70 mph now its at 0 lol.
With anymore then about 10psi with the way i have my adapter set up it'll just blow the intake boot off the bottom turbo.

Well I found it. I probably should have checked there alot sooner then I did but it totally skipped my mine.
Turns out the farrow that holds the boost line going into my boost gauge let go and the line slipped out, hense why I couldn't hear it inside the truck when I was under the hood looking for leaks but made an awful loud noise when driving inside the truck.
So just a reminder check your aftermarket boost lines also.

Well honestly I am not sure how much PSI it dropped on my truck seeing as how the supply line for the gauge was disconnected (read gauge wouldn't work properly) what scares me is it was still working though with the line disconnected
