BHT3E single turbo?

I have a twins setup on my truck now using the stock turbo and a BHT3E with a 23cm housing. I am exploring more possibilities for turning this truck into a weekend toy. Would using the larger bht3e as a single be too much on it's own, do you think I would be able to light it off by itself or maybe using a little spray?
I know this would not be a streetable setup but one of my options may be taking it off the street for good. I like the way it runs with the twins on it but I would like to make it as simple as possible for a racing application. Possibly even going so far as to remove the intercooler and running water instead. Plus I've already got the turbo so it would be something else I could spend the money on.
Any ideas/suggestions welcome.

no man it wouldnt work. the spool and power would be way in the rpms and i think way to much rpm for your truck to spin.

I'd stick with the twins. Just go bigger on the secondary and toss a cam at it. I assume you're head is studded/ported/ringed etc?

If it's not a street truck, I'd try it. It's going to take some rpm and fuel, plus a good bit of timing. If you don't like it, you can always go back to what you know works . Good luck with it

I just noticed you're an auto. A setup a lot of auto pullers use is to buy a loose high-stall ATS sledpulling converter. I'm sure other tranny guys will make a high stall as well.

I realize I have no where near the amount of fuel required to use that turbo right now. This is all just research and throwing out ideas to see what might be possible. I would have to get a bigger fuel pump, injectors, and turn the timming up quite a bit in order to have any chance at it. I also know the head would need some serious attention so it would be up to the task of turning some high rpm, I was looking at that ZZ Fabrication intake manifold and getting some serious port work.
My whole idea was efficiency. I see alot of guys using big twins and a massive amount of boost to get the airflow for the mega amounts of fuel they are using. What about going the other way with it? Machined/ported head for extreme flow, proper cam, ported exhaust manifold, and a little nitrous for good flavor. That seems like it might be possbile, insted of spending the money on the turbo setup I guess I would just be spending it on porting and machine work.

sound like alot of work and money. i have a zz fab intake an my truck with the intake side ported and polished, i can put my egt probe any were i want on my exhust manifold but it did cost a ton of money and to try and use somthing like a bht3e 23 that might not work well i wouldnt do it for that turbo. but you might be able to spool a 20 cm housing and i have one sitting in my shop. it spooled like crazy in my twins setup. like instant 1 psi and then slam up to 30 it went. it also has the high performance inducer wheel and housing. pm me for more info.

Whats up man, sounds like you got some big plans.

Did you ever do anything to the tranny?

Have you pulled any where yet?

Are you going to do some pulling this year?

What are you dynoing at now?

see ya later

My vote is to run your existing HX35 (stock turbo, I not a first gen guy) and a HBT3B-26cm housing turbo. You have enough turbo for 700rwhp and the spool-up isn't that bad (all most stock). A HX-40/12&3b/26 is a bigger (my set). A 3B would slow to spool and they only build about 35 psi of boost. Yes it would work but how would you brace/support that big of turbo on your exhaust manifold? I heard Curt Haisley try using a 3B on top a big brother. Slow spool but tons of air. Easy 100psi, just need a big race P pump and some killer sticks. Not a daily driver.
