Best way to bomb 1999

Have a friend that just got a 1999 3/4 ton 5 speed this past summer. He bought it used and it has about 240,000 miles on it.

First off we are going to do a 4" exhuast and Scotty Air on it along with some guages. From their I am wondering what the most cost effective way to add some power to it.

I basicaly have talked him into get the Edge EZ, told him the Edge Comp probably not a good idea from the problems I have heard with the injector pump. And a truck with that many miles I would think rasing the pump pressure would not be to good for the pump.

Is the EZ the best way to go, or is injectors or something else a better route?

The respond very well to bigger injectors really improves the lowend power. 8)

He could pick up a set of used DD3's for a pretty good price and I wouldn't be afraid to pearce the pump wire either. 8)

I'm running a comp and 275's right now on my 99 and I think that's about all the stock turbo will handle(38lbs boost), even with the scotty my egt's climb pretty fast

you could go the comp without the wire right now(ez mode) and a set of big injectors ........later when he becomes brave and gets the cash for a b1 kwikspool he can hook up the wire

First thing he should do is GAUGES. EGT and fuel pressure being the most important. Boost is not a bad idea either. Bombing is a bug that only gets worse. Fuel box-injectors-turbo-exhaust-head work-bigger injectors-cam-twins-got the picture?

If you do hook up the wire on a box make sure you can afford a new injection pump. My pump failed on the first hard pull, only had 70,000 miles on the pump. It will either live or die, you'll know in the first 20 minutes or so.
