I agree. I would think if the thermocouple was in the ex. manifold the readings should be a little higher.

I drilled and tapped the flange end right where the exhaust ports come together right before the turbo cause thats where the edge manual said to put it.

what is mine doing wrong

I recently installed a tap in my manifold (front port), idling I get just below 400, cruising I get around 800, light acceleration it gets up to 1000. Maybe my gauge is off? I noticed before I installed it, it rested around 200, but I dismissed this as the lack of signal.

Hmmm...now I'm wondering if mine are too high after seeing the numbers others are having. I'll run up to the mid 1100s pulling about 7K on a fairly steep grade and it'll climb up there too if I put my foot in it going down the road. Seems like my EGTs were a tiny bit lower with my stock air filter! I believe mine is post turbo...is this why my temps seem higher?

I did double check my gauge this weekend, it does zero out, and rises smoothly with no jumping. drumrunner, everything I heard when getting ready to install my pyro is that post turbo its going to be cooler. No idea what the temp drop across the turbo would be, but you might want to consider moving your tap if your edge monitors pyro temp, (if it cuts fuel when it reads 1300, post-turbo, you could already be causing problems with pre-turbo temps). But that's just my opinion and I don't have any experience in this area.

Yea Drumrunner id move to to pre-turbo, just makes a lil more sense to put it there IMO. I see about just under 300 after idling about 3-4 minutes, after a drive. But under moderate acceleration i see about 800-875, (stock turbo), and fairly hard accel up a grade gives me about 1K, but all of these numbers depends on grade, towing or empty, upgrades to the truck, and how long the hill is of course

exhaust

I have both pre and post pyrometers hooked up. It's about 150 to 200 degrees difference.

Seems low, but that's a good thing. Cruising I'm at around 600 to 700 degrees, unloaded. Hard acceleration up decent grades I'm seeing 1000 to 1100 degrees. But then when at 1100, I've really got my foot into it. Loaded going up the same grades I'm seeing 1150 to 1200.

Around town driving I'm seeing 500 to 600 degrees. In gear with light throttle driving down my street for 200 yards before I park in my driveway, I'm seeing 450 degrees +or -. Of course as soon as I park, it only takes a few minutes to get under 375 for shut down.

JPR Ram...those look like the temps I'm seeing. My temps are below 300 when I pull into my driveway and that's in 2nd gear going down a slight hill. I'll have to talk to the guys who work on my truck and find out for sure if it's pre or post turbo because honestly...I don't remember!

Just look for your self. Pop the hood and look at the exhaust manifold. If it's pre turbo, you'll see steelbraid wire coming from the top of the manifold right where it meets the turbo.

Drumrunner - My pyro is pre-turbo. If you'rre seeing numbers like mine, I'll wager your's is also. After reading your sig, those numbers are pretty good. I'd say it's pretty normal for what we put these motors through. But if your's is indeed mounted post-turbo, those numbers are high. Rule of thumb is to not exceed 1300 degrees when pre-turbo. And when post-turbo, you shouldn't exceed 1000 to 1100 degrees. Just my .02.......

If you're numbers appear to be off, ensure that you have an excellent ground on the Juice... straight to the battery terminal. Any slight misgrounding or backfeeding through the sensor will result in bad readings. A thermocouple works on varying degrees of current due to temperature.
