Anyone running the Scheid 24v street cam?

Just wondering if anyone is running this cam and what they have to say about it, good or bad. Can it be used with aftermarket valve springs to turn more RPMS? I emailed them a couple of days ago but have not heard back from them. Thanks

Well for the price from F1 you get a new cam with higher lift. The f1 also has a bolt on gear option to protect the gear from walk at high load or rpm.
The scheid street cam I had just had been reground with no added lift.

Too each his own though.

What does the higher lift do, does it allow more intake? Can you explain what "walk" is at high load or Rpm? Trying to learn more about it, Thanks

Yes, higher lift will allow more valve travel which equals more air flow (obviously there is more than just lift but also timing which helps a bunch).

The common rail engines have straight cut gear teeth which are actually less prone to walk but I went ahead and got the bolt on gear anyways.
Probably not needed but a good idea if you shock load the gear train.

Walk is when the gear that is pressed onto the cam starts to literally push off of the cam.

Your year of truck has helical cut gear teeth that basically means they are at a slant and when you load that gear enough it wants to push off of the cam itself. I definitely recommend the bolt on retainer for your application.

Does the schied cam come with the bolt on retainer, or is that just the f1 cam? Is the potential for "walk" there even with a stock cam? I do not know much about them. The scheid cam does not have any add lift to it like the f1 does since it is only a re grind and you cant add to whats not there. Thanks for your time helping me out

Not sure about scheid but I know my haisley street puller has added lift and duration. But there is not very much lift to be added as stock is nearly maxed out on lift but could use more duration.

and I could tell a huge difference in egts about (225* @WOT) and better spool up.

ctd2001. Go to f1diesel.com and read about it for yourself. Also, do a search on helix cams (those are f1's.) there is plenty of info to be had. To answer your question no the bolt on gear from Scheid was not an option.

Scheid can make you can type of cam you want but its going to be money. Their regular street cam is more moderate than the F1 cam.
