Anybody sell hood liners for 2nd gen?

My hood liner has a nasty hole in it right above the alternator. I have not been able to find a place that sells replacements. Looking for something more substantial then what Dodge puts on it.
Anybody know of a place?

I was looking for Advance Thermal Products ad, but could not find it. I also found this link.

I'd suggest you try a spray-on acoustic damper like the one from Lizard Skin.

It's permanent and very effective.

Dynamat makes a reflective liner that seems nice.

i just ripped mine out, i should have saved it and sent it down to you. it was mint shape except for a bit bigger hole where the light goes through.

cowboy, I wouldn't get rid of it. I did that in July and my hood looks horrible now. Lots of burnt paint spots from the heat of the motor.

cowboy_trucker 11-13-2007 05:35 PM

its too late, i burnt it along with a friends hood liner and an old couch we found. does the paint get hurt though? that sucks. i never thought of that.

Mine has never had a hood liner and my paint is fine. I did buy the truck used but It just looks like It never had one to begin with. When I bought the truck it only had 42000 miles on it and it was in cherry condition so Im pretty sure it was never there.

dodge started to try and save money on the late 01's and 02's by skimping on the little stuf ( hood liner, rear cup holders, etc.)

Same here.

Yep. I wonder if a liner would help on engine noise any?? If it would be worth the money??

No liner here and no problems with paint, would like it quieter but I bought a 24V Cummins so I'm not expecting much.

Wayne - you remember the liner on Rowland's truck?

... sounds like that's what you're looking for!

fade94 11-14-2007 12:36 PM

Mike- That's exactly what I'm looking for. I asked him in PM before posting this up. He said the company he got his from no longer shows it.

Do you have any experience with lizard skin??

HOHN 11-14-2007 01:20 PM

Well, I used to be into car stereo before it was very big and every kid had huge subwoofers. Everyone then was using Dynamat.

The more reputable shops now seem to be going to the LIzardskin. I have no experience with it firsthand, but I've talked to shops I trust about it and they seem to be really embracing the product. It's quite effective, and oddly enough-- a decent value, too. At least when you price out the option of Dynamat ($$).

I'm planning on giving it a try myself when I get a chance to. I think doing the underhood would be a safe way to give it a shot, because my 2002 truck doesn't have a hood liner either, and I'd like to deaden some of the sound.

The Lizardskin also had some insulating qualities as well, apparently.
