Another 600HP 24 valve

Another D/FW 600HP plus 24 valve. Diesel only. Stock camshaft, Stock injection pump and a B-1/B-2 Combo for twins. Still more work to be done. No tuning at all. 605 uncorrected and 621 corrected.

Link to results and dyno graph here: 600HP plus

BTW, the clutch was slipping with anything over about 620HP. With some wastegate tweaks and some Nitrous pills ( small sizes less than 50 ) the clutch would slip like greased pig.
Even a small 29 pill the clutch would roast.

Its just a Con FE so I was surprised it held that well. Great clutch to hold that much HP and TQ.

Time for a real input shaft and a dual disk!!

Looking at the graphs it hard to see the slippage with the Diesel only runs, but its happening.

Congrats Don, Mike! I'm still chasing down a boost problem, but I hope to join your club some day in the future...

Just curious, what ever happened to the Sachs clutch. I thought I remember reading that you had one, but maybe im wrong.

Was wondering how the two clutches compared as far as max HP holding power goes. My Sachs is a little grabby, but it never slips, even pulling heavy.

Then again, youve got over HALF AGAIN as much power as mine has!!

Congrats on passing 600 HP ! That is the true meaning of being a "tweaker".

This dyno run was with Mikes truck. Not mine. Mike has the SBC Con FE.

My truck has the Sachs from Joe Donnelly. My will not slip at all. On the street with 650 plus HP it will hold like glue. Even with a 8700 pound truck draggin it down.

Ahhhhh gotcha. Sounds like everyone's happy..

Since I just got these DD3's, will enjoy them for awhile, then towards the end of the year will probably be contacting you for some of your "specials". I like these, but think 1 step higher would have been perfect for what I want. Trying to avoid tapping the wire.

These trucks are so cool.

Thanks again. Don, the injectors are awesome. There was lots of dyno testing and inj. changes but it was all worth it in the end. There is lots left in this engine. The FE was just not up to the challenge. I too was suprised that it held 600.
Boost temps never got above 130 post IC. EGT's never passed1300.
Bob, the High Ram is history and will never have a place on my engine again.
Don, thanks for posting the dyno graph.

Yea... I see a backpressure gauge... please do tell.. What is your backpressure at 60psi... I would like to compare it to my HX40/HT4B setup. By the way thats one good looking engine compartment... mine looks terrible compared to that beauty. Big beads on the crosstubes... lost paint on the valve cover from too many wrenches . Congrats on the numbers...

Horace,
I had a real hard time reading the gauge because of the pulsation. At 40 psi boost the drive looked about the same. Any more boost than that I couldnt read it at all. It would pulsate full scale on the gauge. I need to get a liquid filled gauge to get some accurate readings.

Good job Mike , I knew she had it in her! I'll get my drive pressures too and we all can compare as all of our combo's are a little different, Horace might be a little better than mine as I have 16 housing on top and Mike's should be good also with that big wastegate, now if we can all get together back at Lewisville it should be a good show for the folks.

Last time I checked I had 46-47psi of backpressure at 60psi of boost. Mine is really good because of the housings I run with the 18cm on the HX40 and the .76AR on the 4B. I have had some mild porting done since then so the numbers could have changed slightly. I will check this week if I get a chance. Mike your pulsation problem seems a little weird to me... I havn't had that problem and in fact my boost gauge is really smoth when hooked up for back pressure. I also have tail tell gauges that keep up with my max boost so that makes things quite simple. Mike your setup seems to be working well but we both seem to have one problem... our EGT's are way too low .

Jim,
Ive been meaning to call you. I did get the IAT gauges installed. Im assuming the air temp will come up once the OAT gets higher. The IAT pre IC does get a little toasty. I need to talk to you about your wastegate settings.
I also need to get another %?%*@ clutch.
Horace, Im suprised you didnt get any exhaust pulsations in your gauge. I wasnt using a boost gauge. Just a 0-60 psi regulator gauge. You could hear the exhust pulses hammering inside the gauge.
