Allison 2400, 47RE, or 48RE which one ?

I am in the process of replacing transmission on my project truck which has no transmission at all.

I can choose between an Allison 2400 (for 2wd), and a standard 47RE or a 48RE if it will fit my '99 24v motor.

Which one would you choose.

I am within hours of buying, so this is farely decisive.

what's the cost difference? I know some of the super-duper 47/48re's can be $6000+!! If the Allison is comparable price I'D go with the 5-speed. Quite a few medium duty trucks use the Allisons, so flex-plate and torque converter shouldn't be too tough. My other question was electronics - can you run the Allison in a standalone mode with a DC ECM/PCM (maybe from a manual trans truck)? I would think the Allison would be inherently stronger, but once the guts are massaged, I don't know.

Well I disagree with all the posts that says it cannot be done. Cummins ISB + Allison transmission is done commercially for some companies.
The one I was interested is on a Freightliner MT55 Fedex delivery van.
It has a Cummins ISB-02 185 with an Allison 2400 transmission.

Only neg issue is adapter to tranfer case, which I believe is same as 1000 on GM trucks, and the output of motor is only 200hp it will need "pumped up" a little, but it's the newer version of the 5.9 ISB.

I decided to go with a good ol' standard 47RE, but if somebody is interested in the combo above, it will sell for approx 6,500, but you will get the whole van (2004 Freightliner M55)
