Aftermarket Shocks
I need new shocks! (Duh...) I use my BiRT for about half towing and half off-road. I'd like some recommendations for some good aftermarket shocks, unless the OEM things will serve me well.

Re:Aftermarket Shocks
I put Bilstiens on all 4 corners about 2 years ago and have been very happy with them, make sure you get the Heavy Duty ones. I bought mine a Auto Zone for $56 apeace, took 1 working day for them to get them in, and took me about 3 hours and 6 beers to put them on.

DB

I just put Rancho 9000's on my truck. Nine way adjustment. So far I like them.[/quote]
Realistically, do you ever adjust them??

Darrell - I'd thought about Bilsteins or Konis, but never ran into anyone that had actually used them on a CTD. Do you recall what part # they are?

I use the Rancho 9000x 9-way adjustables w/ in cab remote. I adjust them accordingly (either empty or towing). They make a big difference!

Re:Aftermarket Shocks
HIgher in the thread some one was asking about "do you really adjust them" on the Rancho 9000. I adjust mine based on what I'm doing with the truck. I write down the settings and track the "butt Dyno" for ride and rebound. For around town empty, I set it to 4 in front and 2 in the rear. for Hauls down the Interstate with a light load it is generally 5 on the front and 6 in the rear. With the 13.5k fifth wheel on it is 7 in the front and 9 in the rear. ON the back country roads when we are going to go play in the mud, genrally 3 in the front and 1 in the rear.

Just my opinion. I really am impressed with the high speed rebound on the shocks. The low speed is not quite a good as Bilstein but for an overall shcok I really like them.

Don Miller
97 2500 CTD

I paid $89 per shock & $179 for the remote system.... seems to be around that everywhere I looked.

Tony Tony Tony...sell the shocks and get yerself a high idler.
I have the 9000's with remote and I love the ability to adjust for different roads and for loads.
Roads and Loads...a new song. Probably be a country hit.
MY Roads and Loads are rollin' rollin'....uhh nevermind...sorry I got off topic its all Tony's fault
