Finally Bought another 2nd gen
I finally own another Cummins!! But I seem to be the only one happy about it everyone else(wife & inlaws) thinks I'm an idiot cause it's not what they like and don't think I need it and it has too many miles. So I thought I'd see what you all think? It's a 2000 reg. Cab 4x4 auto with 304,000 a not bombed, little rust, drives like a Dodge but starts and runs amazing like all Cummins paid $4000 with tax title license ect.

I would be tempted to tell them it is too old and has too many miles whenever they ask you to haul something for them...........................
Not a bad buy at all, and I am not a 24V kind of guy at all!

Thank you and ya I didn't want another 24v either exactly but the price was right and I knew the owner and he took good care of it mechanically

I Actually Plan On putting a p-pump on mine as soon as the note is paid for. The kit from sheid is actually not priced to bad iiI if you can find a pump at a reasonable price

Better fuel mileage, better timing control, WAY easier pump removal/timing, and no need for fancy conversion lines, just cheap timesert converters to adapt the lines to the pump.
Oh yea, and WAY,WAY cheaper to buy a VE conversion than a P-Pump.
I am not going to be going to the races, and I know just how much you can make a VE walk and talk, which is more than I need...........

I'd leave it alone and buy a Quadzilla Adrenaline for it. It'll run better, cleaner, and get better mileage, if you tune it properly. Just don't set yourself a high power tune with the stock transmission.

Qadzilla perf What can i say,, i drive it like i stole it n it just works.
Ever had any problems whit the VP44,, exept APPS and that seems to be the weakest link,, for me i think.
I live in Finland,, Scandinavia,, northern europe. And the Dodge takes cold weather pretty **** better than those chevys ever could. Exellent choice youve made, i think.
Ive noticed that if you dont drive these (id like to say a bad word) too often, theyll kinda go bad to you,, drive yours dayly, n shell be happy.

That's a lot of miles on the interior and tranny but the frame and engine are just getting started.
Look around at what kind of sedan you could get for four grand. I'll bet you could put it in the back of the truck and still get decent mileage .
I drive a 99 I bought new and I'm JUST kind of thinking about getting the first real diagnostics done to it. Maybe check the valves & swap out injectors. It still runs great but the **** thing is old enough to get its own drivers license.

How can one go wrong with the second gen?
My friends have 3rd and 4th. All complain about fuel mileage, emissions equipment, have transmissions serviced. I keep on rolling with mine, 18+ mpg ... I will keep the truck till my end.

Like the others said, I think you got a great deal. I also see that you got the factory fog lights and optional front tow hooks! Also, while it's tough to tell for sure from the photo, it doesn't appear the front springs are sagging. On my 2000 the front springs have sagged and really need to be replaced. I wonder if your truck got the snow plow prep package which included heavier springs?
