AFE filer oil being sucked out

I have a 96 12v auto w/100 fuel plate. The AFE blue filter came pre-oiled and was sucked out in less than 2 weeks. I re-oiled the filter and the same thing has happened.

I don't race the truck, just a daily driver to work and back, though I do get on it time to time.

The filter is grayish looking, hence my belief the blue oil has been sucked out.

Anyone else experience this?

I emailed AFE and they said it was the dye in the oil that was degrading not the filter lube. You could do a filter wash with the AFE cleaning kit and re-oil, then dab a paper towel on it after the blue is gone again to verify theres oil on it.

Faulty assumption, IMO.
Mine has turned grey also.... but I get no debris or particulate in the intake tube (getting through filter).
Don't need to see/feel oil for it to be working. Beware of over-oiling! Evaluate air filter based on contaminants in intake tube and turbo inlet... not outside of the filter!

Ok, thanks guys. I don't understand how the dye can be sucked out, but not the oil. The K&N's on my bikes don't do that.

Why not just put some K&N goop on it? Same type of filter, right? Then you could be sure. I wonder, though, if the dirt getting on the filter makes it hard to see the color. Kind of like koolaid in a glass vs sand in a glass with koolaid in it?
