'97 12v intercooler vs '04 intercooler

is an 04 intercooler an upgrade for a 97 12v ram? are the inlet/outlet in the same places? will it even fit?

I don't believe it will fit. A 3rd gen intercooler is much larger. It would be an upgrade if it fit though. A 24v intercooler would be a slight upgrade to a 12v intercooler but I don't think you would notice it.

3rd gen wouldnt fit. the intercooler inlety and outlet are in diffrent places if im not mistaken

thanks, im only asking because someone wants to trade the entire intake setup (airbox to intake manifold minus turbo) for an '04 rear bumper witch i have. i didnt know if it would be worth the effort for free. im going to compare it to the '07 today. didnt know if someone else had already gone down this road.
