8.3L modds update

After receiving advice from this forum I was able to bring a sick running truck back to life and then some. The truck is a Ford 9000 dump truck. It reguarly has 16 to 20 tons in the bed. It is rated at 275hp. I doubt that is was making 175 before the modds. I replaced the rusted out cat.con./muffler with a resonater, ground the fuel plate to a 100 with a slightly less aggressive slope at the bottom, and pushed it full forward. I pushed the afc housing full forward and advanced the star-wheel full forward. I turned up the boost on the turbo. The pre-turbo egt's stay under 950*. The truck will absolutely wax another truck of the same empty weight that has a 330 Cummins. What will the GSK do for it at this point? It is rather short geared and is above 2000 rpms from 60mph and up. It does see 4-lane travel occasionally. Will the GSK help the fueling in the upper rpms? TIA

Personally I think the GSK was one of the best mods Ive done. It pulls hard to 25-2700 before de-fueling now. In your application I think you would be all smiles

Thanks, guys. Gunracer, your method is the only way I will be able to do this. Bosses are thinking I'm done wrenching on it and would probably veto anymore money spent on modds. After this is done I think it wont have any trouble with this one 350 Cat that Im gunnin for. His isnt turned up, but he cant stand for one of us to pass him. Thanks again, Rodney

I have a DT466 at work that has a #0 plate, tightened the gov springs 2 clicks(2950 rpm at full load), str8 piped, and advanced the timing a smidge. Everyone that drives it loves it! It started life as 230hp, and I'm guessing it's about 260-280 now. Moves pretty good, considering it's no less than 26k pounds all the time. I wish I could get away with the GSK!...well, injectors & twins would be nice too!
