5.9 in a ford?

ok ok so i was looking online and stumbled across factory five racings website. they build kit cars. most notably the roadster.. (shelby cobra) and they can build them to accept larger engines such as the 351 winsor and so on... you see where im going with this :-) what is stopping someone from puting a 2nd gen cummins in one of these.. and just soo happens i have one handy.... ! any thoughts as to putting a cummins in a 1500 lb car?

351 winsor vs 5.9 cummins lol
put them side by side and you will see why no one has one in a shelby cobra

would be cool but wont be worth the time and money. The car would be worth way more with original engine. 5.9 belong in an awd or 4wd vehicle to get the power to the ground there is one in a vett that looks cool but not practical.

An 1100 pound engine in a 1500 pound car? I think the weight might have something to do with it. That and from the bottom of the oil pan to the top of the valve covers the engine is taller than the car.

I think a duramax would be a pretty cool conversion in a cobra. I've always loved those cars, and hated putting a chevy motor in a ford, but the duramax would fit in the pretty well methinks.

saw some you-tube vids of vetts with 6.2 and 6.5TD;s in them they were getting like 30mpg and they are a bolt in (SBC bolt pattern and motor mount posn)

also saw big old chev car (monte carlo or silimar) with a 5.9 in it, nothing sounds neater than a diesel in a sports car!

factory five makes some of the best cobra kits out there. I visited the factory in MA a few years ago. Your idea sounds like fun, but they are severely traction limited already with a built engine in it, let alone a huge inline diesel up front with way more torque.
