47re best prices on billet??

Okay, its time to do the trans next month. I'm just working on pricing trying to decide how much billet I can afford and need?

Looking to be about 400 horsepower and I tow 18K gross combined a few times a year.

I was thinking i will go with these parts, but does anyone know a cheaper source???
Suncoast Extreme rebuild kit $542
Suncoast Valve body $438
Moroso Deep Aluminum Pan $179
Suncoast Billet Intermediate $742
Ebay Billet Input Shaft $665
Ebay Billet Output (4x4) $650
Banks Billet Converter $700 (already bought from a friend)

So, what else should I consider? And does anyone know where to find any better prices (or better parts for a similar price)?

So far, thats gonna bring me to about $4k plus labor (i'll pull and install myself, but have a local guy build it for me).

Thats really getting to the point where I might as well just order one already built? I will probably save less than $1k to do it my way??? Should I just bite the bullet and order one from Goerend???

You can leave out the intermediate.

Goerend makes some nice trannys at competative prices, along with a great warranty. Most people when they try to cut corners and piece together a trans end up regretting it. If staying at 400hp go with a Goerends with a triple disc converter and a billet input. If goig higher in hp go with a billet output as well. The intermediate shaft would be over kill for you.

Buy it built. You're adding way too many variables into the equation and you're gonna get bit by it.

What happens when that torque converter goes bad, and then plugs up the valve body? You'll be mad at your buddy for a bad TC, and suncoast will laugh at you because it wasn't the valve bodies fault.

I can safely say a transmission is one piece of the puzzle better left to the pro's, and only one pro.

Buy a complete transmission from DAVE GOEREND, and be done with it. 563-778-2719. Thanks Steve B.

I guess at that price being used is a fair assumption, but to be clear the Banks converter i bought is brand new, never been bolted on.

But I'm starting to agree with you guys. I think I will be buying a built trans minus the converter all from one place...Just seems like trouble to piece it together.
