35s on a dually (any experience welcome)

the Dually i'm thinking about getting has 4:10 gears i think and i was wondering how many of you are running 35 on thier duallys and what you think about the ratio. i wanted to runn a bigger diameter tire to ofset some of the low gearing and i think it would look a lot cooler:D
what meteric size would i be looking for in a 35" tire on a dually and can i get wider ones for the front? i know that the rims are pretty skinny
with all of this, i'm still thinking about towing my jeep buggy around and maybe a camper. i know that smaller sidewalls are better for towing and all but is anyone out there doing id and if so what's it like?
i've got all these i deas, so bear with me...:D
i remember looking at my friends logging truck back home and seeing that he had 22" rims. what diameter tire do they run on these things and if they are 35-37" tall where could i find the bolt pattern conversion? what do you guys think about this idea?
thanks for taking the time to read all of this and humor my excitement and off the wall ideas. that's what it's about right?

dually

I am going to run 255,s on the rear which are about 33" you don't need to run spacers then and i'm going to run 285 on the front thy are almost the same size but wider. if you do a search on here you will find some more info some guy was running 315's with a 2" spacer.

nauitque21 05-02-2005 06:12 PM

where do i get one of these wheel spacers and most importantly, are they safe to tow with?

INJECTOR JACK 05-03-2005 09:46 AM

wheel spacers

There is guy's on here that tow with them myself I'm a little gun shy of them you can get them at stockton wheel there is other places that sell them, I would spend the money and get the steel ones. Do a search for dullay spacers there's lots of info there.

the search hasn't been working. it always says something about a 4 word minimum. still havn't found anything out about running 315s yet. what about 285/75/16s? anyone????

FrdRdnk 05-09-2005 02:46 PM

285/75's are around a 33 I believe and 315's are a 35

gunracer1 05-09-2005 03:20 PM

i run 285s with a 2 inch spacer. it rides so much better than it did before and i would not think about going back to 215 or 235s. i run a aluminum spacers i got of ebay. but it has 14mm studs, our trucks run 9/16ths studs so i had to do some more work to get it all to work. they clear all the way around without any problems. and i fear no weight of any goose necked load. mike

what gears do you have Gunracer1 ? i'm just trying to lower my RPMs because i have 4:10s. the 235/85/16 tires i have now are just too small. i'm running about 2,200@ 70 MPH. i thought 34-35s would put me a little below 2,000.
how much space is there between your tires?
i sent you a PM

super swamper makes tires for duallies my friend is running 38's on his with no spacers.

gunracer1 05-10-2005 08:21 AM

i have 3.54s and they dropped the highway rpm a bit, not a real big differance. i have a little over a inch between the rear duals.

nauitque21 05-10-2005 12:23 PM

halerazor do you know if anyone else make a tire that is 11.5"-11" wide and 34-35" tall? anyone else know of any? i would go with the superswampers but i'm afraid that they wouldn't last as long as i want them to. i need a good 65,000 mile tire. :D

what about the big semi wheels and tires. i've seen pics of them and theres a guy around town with them they look pretty sweet

nauitque21 05-11-2005 03:34 AM

i've looked into them and they are about twice as much as i would pay for 35's and a set of spacers. looks like that is the route that i'm bound to take.
thanks

call haisley machine i know van is running bfg's on his truck and i'm pretty sure they are 315's. i'm not sure if he is using a spacer or not, he switches from dually to single wheel depending on the track
