2002 Dodge Ram 2500 24v fuel problem.

Hello,
when my truck gets to about half a tank it’s hard to start it wants to crank over and after the 2 time it starts right up. I have a FASS 150 on it now and I have no clue what it can be. I know it’s not on empty because when I go to fill it up I fill it with 25 gallons and I know there’s more. Help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome.

To be clear...this ONLY happens when your fuel tank is half way? NO OTHER TIME?

Yes it has only ever happened at half a tank. It used to shut off at half a tank when driving then we changed the lift pump and found it was shot. That’s why I changed it to a FASS 150. I’ve been think that gauge is wrong and I’m closer to empty but when I fill up, I fill it with 25 gallons like I said above.

Did you have the "intank" lift pump of the block mounted version?

And its very common for the fuel module level sensor to go bad and start reading inaccurate. I actually just ordered a sensor because my fuel level gauge was getting worse and worse and now wont go any lower than about 3/4 tank. This is where the "1/4 tank" issue came from. People running out of fuel who thought there was more in there.

I took one apart years ago, the stock pickup line had come off the bottom plate of the module, and at about 2/3 tank, would run out of fuel.

On some trucks the tip of a screw holding the in tank module together rubs a hole into the suction line- resulting in aerated fuel below 1/2 tank..
