#0 plate
I am thinking about grinding my #10 to a #0. I would rather find a stock plate to grind down and keep my #10 just incase i did not like it, but i can't seem to be able to find one so i was wondering if those of you who have done it like your #0.
Thanks for your imput in advance. |
Don't do it. If you want, just slide the #10 forward a bit more and adjust the governor arm to start higher up on the bottom slope. You can grind the top of the curve flat and make it a #100, the best of both worlds. A #0 is a lot of fuel and heat early on which isn't always usable. At least with a #100 you still have some adjustabililty early in the fueling. Just some thoughts.

I'd grind it to a 100, like paul said... its the best of both worlds. I love mine.

I have a 100 plate set alittle forward from the stock position and love it.

I have a 0 plate full foward and don't mind it. I didnt notice a difference in egts or smoke compared to my bully dog 4 full forward. I will be at a dyno this weekend am going to see if there is a performance benefit.

If you tow or haul a camper you'll hate the 0, egts are hard to control, you'll be looking at the pyro constantly. Slide the 10 forward as Paul said first and go from there.

I've Got the 10 ATW forward but i still don't have much bottom end. My dad has a 96 with the stock plate forward and it has a ton of bottom end. Also I have the star wheel turned towoard the engine as far as it will go but the spring is still fairly tight, will a different spring help any?
Thanks |
ive got a stock plate that i am willing to let go

The 0 is fine. I like mine. Heck, I dont even have EGT problems with mine. And I haul stuff. Im hard pressed to make 1300*. I would find a stock plate and not grind on the 10 though. A 0 is just as controllable as any plate, you just do it with the throttle instead of the pump automatically handicapping you if you are running it hard.

Do the two trucks have the same gearing? Does he also have a 16cm turbine housing? These two things will make a huge difference in bottom end.

The 4.10s would normally help your bottom end but with 35" tires that is offset somewhat. The 16 housing definitely hurts your bottom end. Even with 3.55 gears, as long as your dad is running close to stock size tires, it does not surprise me that his truck has more bottom end than yours. The 12 housing will help out a lot on the bottom.
