Yay Canada!
Us Canucks do know what its like to not place first. And its a real bummer watching that happen.
Hey Lary,

LOL
What a game!! I grew up in SE Georgia & I know nothing about hockey, but that was one of the best games of any sport I've ever seen!!! I didn't realize just how FAST hockey is! Blink & you've missed alot!
Ya know when the fans can loose with grace they are the best fans of the game. We lost to the US in the Junior championship. Well that hurt, but most of us said what a team the Americans have.
It use to be that we (Canadians) fought the Russians for hockey dominance. But the Ruskies have really fallen off. Now we have to battle the Americans. And interestingly the Americans have adopted our style of hockey. I really like that it gives us a real hockey game.
In 1972 the Canadians went against the Ruskies, if you have never seen that series you have missed the best series ever. That was blood and guts. And when we played the other part of the series in Russia, it was tough. We not only had to beat the team, we had to beat the Ruskie attitude.
Our winning goal by Paul Henderson was tried to be denied by the officials, the goal light did not come on.
Our players had to rescue the eagle (Alan Eagleson) from the Ruskies taking him away.
The referees where bias beyond belief.Phil Esposito threatened a ref with a swat in the head from his stick.lol.
I just really look forward to Canada against the Americans, cause I know that it is hockey, not politics.
Thank you USA hockey team for putting me on the edge of my chair, giving me a real solid honest game.

Congrats to the Canadian team. Great game.
I only saw the last half but I was impressed with how clean a game was played by both sides. Relatively few penalties during the part that I watched.
I didn't watch the medal ceremony so I can't comment on how the US team accepted the silver but I know they had to be disappointed to lose a hard-fought game, even if it was lost to our brothers to the north. As Scotty said, being professional players may have made it even harder to lose.

I think if that game would have went on any longer Canada would have lost - we were getting outskated and outplayed for sure.
Games between the US and Canada are always barn burners.
