Y!

In my latest installment of What Where They Thinking (or where they), once again I have to wonder where intelligence went. My latest example is a gun I picked up in a back ally sale. Add said Cheap, Pink, and doesn't work. So I arranged a clandestine meeting to view this abomination. Sure enough, it was pink, painted with a rattle can. The action was also very "crunchy". The guy said he got a quote form a gun shop for $100 to "un pink it". After pulling the slide I told him it will cost more than that. Talked him down and took it home. The price was right for parts that where good. Started taking it apart and the frame was like new. The slide on the other hand (the part painted pink) is a different story. Apparently, whom ever painted the slide sand blasted it first WITH OUT removing all the moving parts. No wonder it doesn't work. Took a lot of time to work all the parts out of the slide without forcing them. Once I get the paint stripped off I'll see if the sliding surfaces can be polished up again. I'm not holding my breath.

It's little by little cleaning up. Not a lot I can do at home, all my tools are at work. I'll probably have to get everything re-blued once the paint is off.
