Wow
Cool! Do I need a CDL to drive something like that?
I'll bet they don't get stopped at the weigh station very often either!
That's the craziest contraption I've ever seen! Did you see how much camber is in the bed and how much deflection there is when those transformers were on it? Geez, you couldn't take any roads w/ any whoopty hills or you'd get grounded on top of it w/ a bed that low. Amazing.

We had two like that last year come here to the power plant to deliver the two new reactor heads. They were relatively lightweight though, only 140 tons. Then there were two more come in to take the old heads away for disposal. I'll see if anyone has a pic and post it. They are inpressive to watch for sure.
Check out this site for some of the rigging we have done.

Is that a pusher, or power steering? My uncle has a slightly smaller version of that rig. His requires someone on the back to steer corners. He hauls presses, rail cars, and has been hauling tanks for the Army in Kentucky all year.
One of the articles says it uses 2 600 HP motors - one pulling and one pushing - and can even accelerate up a grade (unloaded, no doubt). Each section is steerable so it can crab around corners and make turns that a regular semi can. I doubt that the bed stretched 90 feet can "make turns that a regular semi can."
Wife won't let me have one because it won't fit in the yard - and the neighbors on both sides might get mad if I parked it in the street.

This picture shows the "back seat" driver and the rear pusher engine:

But also notice, the center of the trailer is just inches off the ground! That must've been one heavy load!
