Who can bake a cake?

The Wife wants to know. I can't. Cooking is somewhat challenging also. I can, however, make something that resembles food and is edible, but I never have baked a cake. Next Saturday nights dinner rides on this, so please fess up. Jim

Sure, I can bake. Cakes, cookies (my speciality), brownies... all from scratch. Can cook, too. Wasn't always married, you know....

Ditto on the cake/cookie/brownie/food making thing... I have a habit of leaving the Food Network on 24/7 which has inspired me to become fat. Seriously, so far today from scratch I've made pizza (including dough), peanut butter oatmeal cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, salmon cakes and hush puppies (with cheese in 'em). Odd thing is that I'm still hungry. Ahhh... the life of a bachelor.

From a box may or may not count - that is kinda like buying fish to eat versus fishing for 'em.

On occasion I will surprise me missus by baking something from scratch - but usually when she is out of the house so I don't have to hear "You're not doing that right!"

Too many pastry chefs spoil the cake...........

I can bake a cake, brownies, I've never made cookies though. I can cook just about anything, and do most of the cooking for our family.

I am with shortround, except I use zuccini to make the lemon pie of the world, and it is healthy and have never had anyone know otherwise until they are told, the squash is great too!!! I had a momma that made sure we four boys could survive on our own out in the mean world of women Goodluck,,,,Rick

Yup.. Same here. Cake, pies (although my grandmother was the hands down champion in that department), cookies, etc. As with some of the other folks, my mother made sure we boys wouldn't starve when we were on our own.

I do cakes, cinnamon rolls, brownies and cobblers in the dutch oven on our pack trips. Cornish hens, roasts and even mexican cuisine works well in a dutch ovens. Biscuits and gravy are pretty easy and stick to the ribs real well.

Hmm- If I had learned cooking from my mother I'd definitely survive in the cruel world of women, but would shurely be charged for assault with weapons of biological warfare

I can cook for me and if necessary for guests too, but my wife cooks that good I usually leave it to her. Less work for better food there is something to it.
But my cakes would still qualify as an assault weapon.
