Re:white truck/road tar removal

a good citrus based cleaner should do the trick...some kind of an orange cleaner, my step dad gets commercial stuff im not sure of a brand name..sorry .. ( they use it to spray in dump truck beds to loosed stuck asphalt ) we've used it for years and never hurt our paint....also not sure if its true or not but i actually heard sprite ( the soda ) works good 4 that..i have used the orange go/jo hand cleaner also ( smooth ofcourse ) dab it on, work it around with a soft cloth and there goes the tar...... good luck, scott

Re:white truck/road tar removal

I hit some major road construction last summer and tarred my Powerstroke really bad. It looked like someone had sprayed gravel guard or undercoating down the side of it. I waited until the tar hardened and then used a plastic scraper to get the bulk of and then used varsol and a little elbow grease to clean the rest. A good wash/wax after and you never know it was there.

mineral spirits ( paint thinner ) or synthetic enamel reducer works just fine, just re-wax after you are done

big jake

Diesel fuel, WD-40, any solvent that does not quickly evaporate.
Enamel reducer, mineral spirits, kerosene, all seem to work well.
Just remember to wash with soap and water after, and re-wax
