when did Reader's Digest get full of curse words?
i loved them when i was growing, did a lot of reading growing up in those books.
just right for a month's worth of reading. [coffee] Dad has a subscription, was reading one of his over weekend, had at least 3 or 4 four letter words in there. does the whole world have to sink to the lowest common denominator to get a point across? it's bad enough to put up with my co-workers, the TV, the radio and other websites, blasting me with cuss words, dirty stories, and pooh humor. but dang, you would think you could a family magazine that could convey a thought process without cuss words. Dirty Words
Not all words are dirty. Ones that are bad, use to describe something when mad.
Falling out of your truck getting a face full of dirt and yelling at your friends who are laughing, that's a good dirty word [laugh] Yeah for some reason you have to use the F word 10 times, S word 9 and this 50 times to let them know how you feel. I mean why say that about a ford when you can just say, I wouldn't buy one. I think that gets the point out? |
The closest thing to a "Dirty Four-Letter Word" you'll see here is FORD. [laugh]

[rant] Guy cuts you off in traffic?? You yell "dang you". He laughs and thinks you are a dweeb. Guy cuts you off in traffic and you yell &*(^%$###@@@((*&) he thinks you are a nutbag and gets the hell outa your way. :p |
This has opened up old wounds for me. [rant]
I used to read it every month when I was in the Navy. Had a subscription and everything. Then I decided I would write a few stories to see if they would publish them. Never heard back. Viet Nam era wasn't very interesting / popular I guess. Haven't picked one up in 35 years since. Maybe my writing just sucked? [laugh] [laugh] [tapdshut] |

We live in a country that has given a LOT of lives for the privelidge of FREE SPEECH. Personally I don't want someone to tell me what I can and can't say just because they might get their feelings hurt. Boo-hoo, know what I mean? Would you rather live somewhere that you can't speak freely? Luckily for me, I am not scared of words. If I don't like something I just do something else. Censorship is almost (not quite) as bad as someone shoving their "Christian" values down your throat and treating you different if you don't have the same values. Nothing makes me more mad than someone telling me what Jesus' opinion is on a subject...
