That's a tough one - guess it comes down to realtive age and condition - remember that re-planking the bed could be quite a bit, and if the frame is rusty that it'll only get worse. Gee it's not like they put odometers on trailers! I will say I was looking at a few new trailers recently and a flatbed equipment hauler, *new* with tandem axles, 2X10 treated plank deck and 12,000# capacity was around $3500, and that's not a covered trailer. So I can't guess $4k is too bad a deal for that IF if fits your needs, and is in decent repair.

Perhaps talk him down a couple hundred and go for it - let him know you're serious, but set a limit on what you will pay for it and don't go above it. He will more than likely come to your price when he notices that you mean business.

Have you checked out similar ones on traderonline.com & ebay? Might give insight into what others are paying for a similar unit...Good luck!

 

it is a smoking deal if the trailer is in good shape. but it would be a odd trailer with the tamdem duals. 99% of enclosed trailers have single wheels for a nice wide floor.
