That's pretty much dead-on; I happened to be in the Post Office yesterday, and the guy was quoting ~$95 to someone ahead of me in line.

I'm much closer to Mexico than Canadia......having said that, I'm working with a bunch of Canadians in San Diego, 30 miles or so north of the border. They all have passports and green cards. Not so for our other cross-border friends on the job.

I think it's a great idea. Has the added benefit of keeping our wayward youth from crossing the border to get into trouble.....

So you're telling me that the border patrol is going to keep people from coming into the US without a passport...

At least not down here, anyways... You can have "I'm an illegal" taped on your forehead and be driving a donkey through the check point pulling a cart load of twenty kids and bushels of oranges and they'll still let you in...

I feel sad when I hear people say things like this.

So basically, the Canadian guards will require a passport in order to allow Americans into Canada as well. I kind of laughed when I heard that American's will need a passport to get back into their own country.

Now a family of 4 needs to spend $400+ before they even leave their house? Could hurt tourism on both sides IMO. I'm all for keeping everyone safe but WOW.

It's just like a gun registry.

I'm all for tighter security but making the law abiding citizens jump through hoops just to go about their regular lives is not going to help. It's a big border and there are plenty of places to cross with no one around to check your passport.

Believe me, passports won't keep the psycho millitant terrorists from getting into any country.
