What to do or see in St. Louis?

I'll be in St. Louis tomorrow 3-8-10 to Thursday for work. I will only have a few quick hours of free time on Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoon. Are there any MUST SEE's that I can do while there?

I know there is a Budwiser Brewery there and the Arch. I haven't been to either but the wife got to go up in the Arch with her sis and mom a few years ago. Said it was pretty cool.

If your gonna be there by yourself and you really don't have that much time, you should look for a present for your wife and/or kids. Then when you are all there, you can enjoy the sites together.

Washington is a neat little town and the drive from STL to there is beautiful. Takes you down the MO river bottoms and wine country.

Take this route:

Purina Farms is out there...Labadie is a neat little town as well....they have a restaurant there that is locally know for being one of the best around....its called The Hawthorne Inn....not a bad dish at that place......Pizza is killer!!!

I would have to agree with Diesel-Dan I have spent alot of time in the area (23 years) and west of Saint louis there is alot of beautiful country. I am sorry to say that STL is one of the worst cities I have been to but there is a few things to do like the arch and the Budwiser Brewery does tours and if you feel lucky there are some casinos. depending what you may think of as fun there are some fine establishments accross the river in east stl with some nice girls there putting themselfs through college but the wife probly wont approve.

If you decide to head west we also have some nice golf courses out here and if you make it to washington you can come up to my shop and drink some brews and help us fixt the truck we blew up at the dyno this weekend nothing better than getting put to work on your day off

BTW The Hawthorne Inn is know to be one of the best resturants around here even tho i have never eaten there, and if you make it there you can continue down HW T and go through the town of St Albans where they have one of the nices privite golf courses in the country and no house cheaper than 1,000,000 and go whay up from there (intresting to go see what to good life looks like)

The arch and brewery tours are pretty cool, the zoo is very nice if you are into that kind of thing altho this time of year most of the critters are still in winter quarters, just be very careful about where you go especially after dark...I worked the metro system up there for a couple years and it gets very hairy in certain parts of town at night.

If you ever go back with family,

Your daughter would love the Magic House (depending on age)
http://www.magichouse.org/

The City Museum is great for kids also.
