We Have Another One

Who was "technically" the first person to win an "Oscar",since they were given the award ahead of time before they went back to Germany?

1) Emil Jannings
2) Peter Lorre
3) Bela Lugosi
4) Conrad Veidt

More guessing :
Emil Jannings. Toss up between the two German sounding names, and I have heard the name Conrad Veidt recently, so I 'm guessing the guy I haven't ever heard of.

Answer:.The first actor to win an Academy Award for Best Actor was Emil Jannings. He was also the very first person to ever be presented with an Oscar Award as Best Actor was the first award presented that evening. He was born in Rorschach, Switzerland, the son of a German mother and an American father. He won the Oscar for Best Actor in 1929 for his work in The Way of All Flesh and The Last Command.
The first Best Actor Oscar went to Emil Jannings in 1928 for Last Command.
