Washington Trucks...

I'm looking at a truck in outside of Seattle, WA. Is the salt on the roads bad up there? Does it have a significant effect on the frame/rockers/suspension?

washington does not salt the roads often. maybe only a few times a year. they mostly use sand, gravel, and a chemical deicer.

any truck i have seen here only has the standard surface rust because of the marine environment of western washington. nothing alittle wire brush and a fresh coat of krylon doesnt prevent.

No salt up here and my truck is a local, originally purchased in Seattle and licensed here. There is no rust on the body or the undercarriage and the springs and shackles are fine. The only salting up here is on the gravel piles to keep them from clumping.

if the chemical de-icer is mag chloride, or similar, it can cause some pretty nasty pitting of metal parts, wheels and body panels. it also causes damage to insulators, sensors, and electrical components.
